About 40 minutes from us, heading toward Kirtland, Squire’s Castle is a picturesque stone castle tucked inside North Chagrin Reservation.
Wander the grounds surrounded by glowing maples and oaks.
Bring your camera—the castle makes the perfect backdrop for fall photos.
Continue your drive another few minutes to Holden Arboretum (9550 Sperry Rd, Kirtland, OH)—a must-see destination for autumn lovers.
Emergent Tower: Climb 120 feet above the treetops for a panoramic view of fiery reds and golds.
Canopy Walk: Stroll across a 500-foot suspended bridge right among the leaves.

Next, head east to Paine Falls Park, where cascading water is framed by brilliant fall foliage.

As you drive toward Ashtabula County, you’ll pass rolling hills, small farms, and stretches of forest ablaze in fall colors. first stop Historic Harpersfield Covered Bridge Metropark 16 minute drive
Then just two minutes away Robinson's Apple Barn for some fresh apple cider open 10 am to 5pm everyday except Sundays only til 4pm
Covered Bridge Trail
Ashtabula County (home to 19 covered bridges) is your corridor of wooden gems. Suggest that guests “hop off route” to visit: Smolen-Gulf Bridge & Riverview Walk.When you arrive at Smolen-Gulf, you can park and walk across the 613-ft covered span (walkways exist).
Below, at Indian Trails Park, there’s a Riverview pedestrian bridge and trails along the riverbanks that frame that autumn splash.
If time allows, swing by Ashtabula Harbor / lift bridge for a lakeside contrast—fall leaves + water reflection = magic.
